GHQ-12 Mental Health Screening
Assess your recent psychological well-being with this standard 12-item tool.
GHQ-12 Assessment
The General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) is a widely used screening tool for identifying minor psychiatric disorders and general psychological distress.
What does it measure?
It assesses your ability to carry out normal functions and the appearance of new, distressing experiences like anxiety or depression.
How long does it take?
With only 12 questions, it typically takes less than 4 minutes to complete.
Is it a diagnosis?
No, this is a screening tool. It indicates if you might benefit from professional support, but it's not a clinical diagnosis.
Scoring Method
We use the standard 0-0-1-1 (GHQ) method recommended for identifying potential cases of distress.

Instructions: We would like to know if you have had any medical complaints and how your health has been in general, over the past few weeks. Please answer ALL the questions on this form by underlining the answer which you think most nearly applies to you. Remember that we want to know about present and recent complaints, not those that you had in the past.
1. Have you recently been able to concentrate on what you're doing?
2. Have you recently lost much sleep over worry?
3. Have you recently felt you were playing a useful part in things?
4. Have you recently felt capable of making decisions about things?
5. Have you recently felt constantly under strain?
6. Have you recently felt you couldn't overcome your difficulties?
7. Have you recently been able to enjoy your normal day-to-day activities?
8. Have you recently been able to face up to your problems?
9. Have you recently been feeling unhappy and depressed?
10. Have you recently been losing confidence in yourself?
11. Have you recently been thinking of yourself as a worthless person?
12. Have you recently been feeling reasonably happy, all things considered?
Scoring (GHQ Method):
For each question, the first two options are scored 0 and the last two options are scored 1. Sum the scores for all 12 questions.
A score of 3 or 4 or more is generally considered to indicate psychological distress.
